General Job Function: STARS Data management/reporting and Student Information Management (SIS).
Education/Training/
Experience:
Minimum – High School Diploma; AA degree in data collection and management, accounting, technology, preferred; bilingual preferred. Knowledge of MS Suite of software programs, especially Word and Excel.

Resources Used: Standard office equipment. Maintain and order office supply inventory; process PO’s related to student data management; assist with other areas of data management as assigned or deemed necessary.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements: Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; communicate verbally and electronically; reach with hands and arms; stand and move throughout the building and/or to other facilities, and drive. Occasionally required to lift and/or exert force of up to 50 pounds. Vision: close, distance, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Environmental Conditions: Noise level is usually moderate. Travel to facilities throughout the district is integral to the job.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead administration and staff in correctly entering, maintaining, and collecting student data.
- Submit all reports to the New Mexico Public Education Department required for school funding through the STARS system.
- Provide student and school data for reports to all departments, outside agencies and organizations as requested and deemed appropriate by administration.
- Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the district computer system used to produce required reports and manage day‑to‑day operations of the student information system.
- Assist with training staff on data entry and maintenance for all aspects of the student management system and act as “help desk” for data entries.
- Assist Student Information System security officer lead; add, change, update or delete user profiles and passwords as necessary.
- Coordinate and assist in providing staff access to SIS, establishing, maintaining and updating staff user roles and customized menus based on job description.
- Assist and support SIS users’ group meetings to ensure group function and compliance with data management and reporting.
- Assist with data entry in the student information system.
- Collaborate with the technology department to bridge SIS data with third‑party software.
- Assistance with district reporting for 40/80/120/EOY/year‑round and facilitate department data management and reporting.
- Assist with correspondence and support school/department communication to ensure prompt and accurate balancing of student enrollment and reporting.
- Assist in creating and submitting all required STARS files to NMPED and finalize them within 10 days of report date.
- Communicate accurately and effectively with district administrators and NMPED personnel to ensure efficient and timely reporting.
