Finance Specialist – Accounts Payable
Under the direct supervision of the Finance Director, initiates, processes, and maintains records of a variety of financial transactions focused on accounts payable processing and associated tasks including reviewing transactions for documentation of obligation, payment authorization, timely payment, and accurate recording; confers with vendors. May assist in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures related to accounts payable and purchasing.
May cross‑train in other Finance Department activities to provide back‑up to other functions; serves as backup for all payroll functions in the absence of the payroll specialist as assigned, and assists with payroll on an as‑needed basis.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associates Degree in business, finance, accounting or similar field; and four (4) years’ related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the position.
Must possess and maintain a valid, New Mexico Class D driver’s license and be insurable by the City’s vehicle insurance provider.
Special RequirementsA background investigation will be required for this position.
