Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week travel contract in Española, NM, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg experience and a minimum of one prior travel assignment.
Responsibilities
• Hospital-based Med/Surg unit setting
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
• Epic EMR used on-site; training available for those without prior Epic experience
• Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care using the nursing process
• Coordinates care through collaboration with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team
• Administers medications and treatments per physician orders or standard protocols and documents according to policy
• Identifies and addresses patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care
• Provides clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
• Completes population- and procedure-specific competency education and testing per unit standards
• Former permanent staff of Presbyterian Health Services must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
• Must be a team player, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
• Active RN license in New Mexico or a Compact State currently in hand
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• ADN or ASN degree required
• At least one prior 13-week travel assignment required
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
• Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
