American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Family Birth Center / Labor & Delivery position in Española, NM, requiring a NM or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of current L&D experience.
Details- Women's Care unit covering antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum/newborn care in a hospital setting
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week)
- Floating between departments and/or local locations within 20 miles is required
- Epic EMR used; on-site training available for those without prior Epic experience
- Active NM or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS (must be issued by the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum 2 years of current L&D experience required
- ADN or ASN degree required
- Proficiency with L&D medications including Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, mag sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin
- Newborn care skills required, including newborn stabilization, medication administration (Hep B, Vit K, erythromycin, antibiotics), IV starts, hearing screens, lab draws, phototherapy, hypoglycemia care, circumcision assistance, and care of opiate withdrawal and critically ill newborns
- STABLE certification preferred
- Antepartum responsibilities include triage assessment for patients >20 weeks using obstetric acuity tools, labor and fetal evaluation, assessment for conditions such as preeclampsia, PTL, PPROM, vaginal bleeding, and acute or critical presentations
- Intrapartum responsibilities include labor assessment and care, preparation for vaginal or cesarean delivery, medication administration, and immediate newborn stabilization
- Postpartum/newborn responsibilities include assessment and care of patients following vaginal and cesarean deliveries and comprehensive newborn care
- Candidates must pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test during the first week of the assignment; failure to pass will result in dismissal
- Former permanent employees of Presbyterian Health Services must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- 13-week contract
