RN Nurse, Private Duty Nurse
Job Overview
We are seeking experienced Travel RNs to provide high‑acuity patient care with flexible scheduling and ongoing contract opportunities across multiple service areas in New Mexico.
Position Details- Minimum of three (3) twelve‑hour shifts per week
- 6‑week contract assignments
- $65 per hour plus mileage reimbursement
- Schedules provided in 6‑week increments with the opportunity to extend based on operational needs
- Mileage reimbursement: starts after 50 one‑way miles; $0.41 per mile for the first 500 miles, $0.21 per mile thereafter
This position offers a higher pay rate because it requires full flexibility and availability to support staffing needs across various locations throughout New Mexico. Travel nurses may be assigned to multiple patients and communities during a contract period, including travel between regions based on operational needs and patient coverage demands. Schedules may include weekdays, weekends, day shifts, nights, and holidays, and weekly schedules may vary without guarantee of consistency.
Assignments are based on areas with the greatest patient care need; nurses do not maintain permanent patient assignments. Support may include temporarily caring for patient homes until permanent coverage is secured, then rotating to a different assignment as needed.
If travel nursing demand decreases, contractors may have the opportunity to transition into a standard 1099 nursing role, including:
- Picking up high‑acuity shifts
- Managing a lower‑acuity caseload
Please note:
Pay rate and mileage structure may change upon transition from the travel contract role.
- Execute physician‑prescribed plans of care.
- Complete compliant documentation of the care provided in the system of record.
- Manage and administer prescribed medication, treatment, and therapies.
- Conduct patient assessments and coordination of care.
- Perform various activities associated with daily living.
- Monitor vitals, GI intake and output.
- Assess skin integrity and administer wound care.
- Monitor changes in the patient’s condition such as weight loss/gain, self‑care abilities, and indicators of disease progression.
- Communicate with family members, physicians, case managers, and other prescribed individuals regarding patient health.
- Provide education and training to the patient, their family, and/or the Home Health Aide.
- Work with patients one‑on‑one in the patient’s home to provide a comfortable environment.
- Collaborate with and supervise Certified Nursing Assistants and Personal Care Attendants.
- Perform other personal care services as necessary to meet the patient’s needs.
