Junior Lifeguard - Part Time

The purpose of this class is to work with a Senior Lifeguard staff to assist in maintaining constant surveillance of the pools, render appropriate emergency services, and inspect the pool and report unsafe conditions. This probationary position lasts 6 months. Applicants must have completed and be certified by the American Red Cross in Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR, and AED, possess a High School Diploma or GED, and be at least 18 years of age.

Essex, Dundalk, Catonsville

• High School Diploma or GED
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
• American Red Cross First Aid Certification
• American Red Cross CPR and AED Certification
• Pass an initial swimming test
• Blood borne Pathogen training will be provided by CCBC after hire

American Red Cross training is available at no cost, and a $250 stipend will be awarded upon successful certification and a six-month commitment as a junior lifeguard.

• Assist Senior Lifeguard staff member in maintaining constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
• Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies; provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
• Maintain a high standard of customer service.
• Inspect the pool and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to supervisor.
• Oversee the handling of identification cards as well as health, incident, and waiver forms.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports (e.g. health surveys, sign‑in sheets).
• Enforce all policies, rules, and regulations of the pool.
