Heavy Vehicle Apprentice Technician (HGV) – Renault Trucks
Are you ready to kickstart your career in the commercial vehicle industry? Renault Trucks is looking for passionate individuals to join our 3‑year apprenticeship programme covering maintenance, repair and inspections of our range, and culminating in complex vehicle diagnostics and electric vehicle systems.
Training & ApprenticeshipAs an apprentice, you'll gain hands‑on experience in a dealer workshop and receive on‑the‑job training under the guidance of a skilled mentor. The programme aligns with our Electric Truck and Van portfolio developments, ensuring you join a cutting‑edge environment.
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Level: Standard Level Apprenticeship – Level 3 HGV Maintenance and Repair
- Full‑time employment at a Renault Trucks Dealership
- Internationally recognised qualification

Your training will take place at the state‑of‑the‑art Renault Trucks UK Training Academy in Whetstone, Leicester. The modern facility offers a spacious workshop with industry‑standard equipment and experienced specialists to provide high‑quality training.
- IMI Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair:
Heavy Vehicle Apprenticeship - Employer Rights & Responsibilities
- Functional Skills minimum Level 4 in Maths and English
- Serve in the workshop, covering vehicle repair and maintenance, including servicing, MOT preparation, major component overhauls and electrical fault diagnostics.
- Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in the commercial vehicle environment.
- Inspection of heavy vehicles.
- Diagnosing and rectifying chassis units, including pneumatic braking systems.
- Diagnosing and rectifying engine, transmission and electrical system faults.
- Commissioning and decommissioning high‑voltage systems on battery electric vehicles.
- Ensuring health and safety standards.
- Contributing to workplace housekeeping.
To complete the apprenticeship you must pass Level 1 English and Maths (or have an exemption certificate) and work towards this level before the end‑point assessment.
