ABOUT YOUThe ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in the diesel repair industry, preferably with experience servicing emergency vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, rescue vehicles, and other specialty apparatus.
You’ll play a critical role in keeping our customers' fleets operating safely and reliably, directly supporting the emergency responders who protect their communities.

- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on emergency vehicles and specialty equipment
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and related vehicle components
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic software, meters, and testing equipment
- Perform repairs and service at customer locations throughout Upstate New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire
- Respond to emergency roadside service calls when needed
- Communicate professionally with customers and provide updates regarding repairs and recommendations
- Maintain accurate service and repair documentation
- Work safely and maintain a clean, organized service vehicle
- Continue developing your skills through company-provided training and hands-on experience
- Represent Hendrickson Fire Rescue professionally while working at customer locations
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of diesel repair experience
- Previous experience as a diesel technician, heavy-duty truck technician, or emergency vehicle mechanic
- Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and vehicle systems
- Ability to use diagnostic software, meters, and other testing equipment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional customer-service skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, kneel, and work in confined or difficult-to-access areas
- Experience working on fire apparatus, ambulances, rescue vehicles, or other emergency vehicles
- Heavy-duty truck repair experience
- CDL
- Technical school training or industry certifications
- Electrical, hydraulic, and air brake diagnostic experience
- Experience with mobile service or roadside repair
