Position: STORE MANAGER - PERRY ELLIS

Summary

A store manager is responsible for overseeing daily store operations, driving sales, ensuring customer service excellence, managing staff, controlling expenses, and maintaining visual presentation in alignment with corporate objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Customer Experience
    • Act as a role model, keeping customers as the top priority and responding to complaints or needs.
    • Achieve excellent secret shopper scores.
    • Promote merchandise, demonstrate product knowledge, and assist customers with requests.
  • Revenue Generation
    • Share vision and execute store strategy aligned with corporate and district initiatives.
    • Achieve financial objectives in sales goals, sales per square foot, expense control, units per transaction, payroll percentage, and shrinkage.
    • Educate the team on reports, business trends, and inventory opportunities.
    • Analyze reports consistently and develop strategies to maximize financial performance.
  • Operational Responsibilities
    • Prioritize workflow through planning and time management.
    • Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on trends and payroll guidelines.
    • Comply with company policies, procedures, and operations.
    • Ensure the store’s physical appearance and cleanliness.
    • Identify problems, analyze causes, and propose solutions.
    • Maintain compliance with assigned training.
    • Convey company expectations clearly.
    • Protect company assets, including inventory, cash, and fixtures.
    • Report loss‑prevention occurrences to District, Market, and Loss Prevention managers.
    • Practice excellent customer service to prevent theft.
    • Review and audit store processes and paperwork for compliance.
    • Supervise, lead, and motivate staff.
  • Visual, Brand, and Product Management
    • Execute pricing strategies to achieve gross margin.
    • Merchandise the store according to visual guidelines and hold teams accountable to standards.
    • Communicate inventory opportunities to District or Market managers.
    • Plan and execute store planograms promptly.
    • Clarify the company’s brand position to the team.
    • Ensure timely replenishment of merchandise on the selling floor.
    • Instruct and participate in visual merchandising standards set by the company.
  • People Responsibilities
    • Model all PEI customer service standards.
    • Adhere to human‑resources standards and general practices.
    • Recruit, select, hire, and develop diverse talent.
    • Fill open positions within 30 days and maintain a talent pool.
    • Assess, develop, educate, mentor, and provide timely coaching.
    • Hold the team accountable for store results and manage conflict.
    • Empower team participation in decision‑making while guiding the process.
    • Encourage feedback and foster solution dialogue.
    • Lead through change and adversity, managing risks.
    • Maintain confidentiality and meet commitments.
    • Ensure all associates adhere to federal, state, and local labor laws.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to network and maintain a talent pool for recruitment, select and develop store management teams, build bench strength, coach, counsel, and persuasively argue viewpoints.
  • Demonstrated customer‑service role‑modeling with empathy during all store visits.
  • Strong organizational skills: able to delegate, prioritize, meet deadlines, and hold the team accountable.
  • Proven leadership skills capable of challenging and motivating teams in a respectful environment.
  • Knowledge of visual presentation standards and ability to interpret planograms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Business‑analysis skills to interpret trends, payroll, shortage, and controllable expenses to maximize performance.
Additional Requirements
  • Effective selling techniques.
  • Energetic and positive attitude.
  • 3–5 years of retail management experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer‑service skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • BS degree is a plus.
