GOLF MERCHANDISER

Position Concept:
The Golf Merchandise Manager is responsible for the success of the golf shop merchandise as well as maintaining exceptional customer service to our membership. Plans, purchases, coordinates and merchandises inventory of golf products offered for sale. Tracks, documents, manages and promotes golf product sales and implements inventory control. Maximize sales and profitability through the development and implementation of strategies, analysis and appropriate reaction to sales trends.

• Experienced with Northstar Technologies Inventory Software, as well as, Microsoft Word and Excel

Specific Responsibilities – Include but not limited to:

• Oversees the golf merchandising function to achieve the golf operation mission
• Oversees development of buying plans and all golf merchandise related purchasing
• Assist Head Golf Professional with all aspects of the Golf Shop operations
• Presents a diverse and desirable array of golf apparel and accessories
• Maintains levels of product appropriate for the season
• Purchases supplies, fixtures and staff uniform to promote sales
• Maximizes financial performance by developing open-to-buy plans within budgetary guidelines
• Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop
• Maintains product documentation from purchase to sale; including purchase orders, receiving records, invoice validation, inventory records and special-order records to document merchandise history
• Conducts accurate and timely physical inventory counts
• Monitors inventory and assets to reduce loss
• Trains, motivates and develops golf shop sales staff to ensure effective sales and service
• Develops strategies to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize business performance and profitability
• Maintains partnerships and negotiates effectively with vendors
• Establishes pricing structure for all inventory and special-order items in consideration of competitive pricing as well as accepted profit margin
• Attends approved merchandise buying shows and conferences within the limits of the budget
• Answers telephone in a courteous and professional manner.
