Black & McDonald is currently seeking an experienced Service Refrigeration technician to join our Service Division in Estevan, SK! If you are a hands-on, customer service-oriented, and technically inclined professional searching for the opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Refrigeration Technician position is located in Estevan, SK and will report directly to the Service Supervisor.
We’re looking for an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of refrigeration systems and be able to troubleshoot and repair issues as they arise. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Maintain customers’ refrigeration systems.Inspect system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans, and expansion valves.Inspect tubing, connections, valves, and pumps.Replace seals, gaskets, and bushings.Re-assemble system components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and pumps.Provide service to commercial refrigeration systems, including installing, servicing, repairing, and replacing parts; participating in preventative maintenance schedules; and performing minor calibrations.Perform system checks, system troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery.Perform electrical and gas system troubleshooting.Maintain records including daily service logs, refrigerant recovery reports, and service records.Research and resolve complex system problems.Complete assigned paperwork and formsConduct safety inspections, including proper use of personal protective equipment, and verify that safety regulations are followed.Installation of various types of refrigeration and HVAC equipment.COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED.Previous experience as a refrigeration technician.HVAC certification.Braising and soldering skills.Knowledge of local building codes.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and compliance schematics.Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment.SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Clean Class 5 SK Driver’s License and abstractExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to always maintain a professional demeanor with fellow employees, customers, and stakeholders.Strong problem-solving skills.Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and mobile device applicationsCollaborative and supportive work culture
