* Key Responsibilities:

*** Diagnose and repair complex, modern CNG and diesel engines, and advanced electrical and hydraulic systems.
* Perform repairs and preventive maintenance tasks such as PM and safety inspections.
* Complete required record keeping associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
* Review, plan and schedule work as required.
* Mentor apprentice technicians and provide training to complete their apprenticeship program.
* Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures.
* Ensure shop equipment and tools are kept in a safe operating condition.
* Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company safety standards.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
** Requirements:
*** Journeyman designation or equivalent
* Valid Driver’s License
* Provide own tools and willingness to acquire tools as required for jobs.
* Red Seal is preferred but not required.
** Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
*** Ability to perform CVI inspections, and familiarity with transportation regulation.
* Knowledge of tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
* Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of company fleet assets.
* Experience using diagnostic software is preferred.  Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
* Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and communicate with customers and external vendors.
* Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a team environment or as an individual contributor.
* Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
** Working Conditions
** The Technician must be able to work inside and/or outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat.
** Physical Demands
**** Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
*** Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, grasping/gripping, and pushing/pulling.
* Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, utility gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.
* Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts.
