Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support a manufacturing automation project by developing CNC programs, work holding fixtures, tooling layouts, and machining processes for new CNC equipment. This project-based role focuses on converting existing manual and CNC machining operations to Mazak horizontal machining centers utilizing Mazatrol programming. The ideal candidate is an experienced CNC programmer with strong Mastercam expertise, fixture design knowledge, and the ability to independently support production implementation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for horizontal machining centers using Mastercam.
- Create and maintain work holding fixtures, tooling layouts, and machining processes to support production.
- Support the implementation and startup of new CNC equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Convert existing machining operations to Mazak horizontal machining centers utilizing Mazatrol programming.
- Identify tooling requirements and coordinate the procurement of cutting tools and work holding components.
- Design and improve fixtures, jigs, and tooling to increase manufacturing efficiency and quality.
- Validate new CNC programs and support production during implementation.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve machining challenges.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and product quality.
- Train machine operators on new CNC programs and machining processes as needed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing CNC programs and work holding fixtures for CNC machining centers.
- Advanced proficiency with Mastercam.
- Experience programming Mazak horizontal machining centers and familiarity with Mazatrol programming is highly preferred.
- Experience with G-code programming.
- Experience using Solid Works and AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of fixture design, fixture building, and cutting tool selection.
- Experience supporting manufacturing process improvements and CNC equipment implementation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal training.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must meet applicable export control requirements for positions involving regulated technologies.
- Two-year technical degree or certificate in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of CNC programming experience required.
- Five to ten years of CNC programming experience preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years supporting a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience programming Mazak horizontal machining centers preferred.
- Experience with Mazatrol programming preferred.
- Experience with CATIA V5 is a plus.
- Experience working in a union manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience implementing CNC automation and manufacturing process improvements is highly desirable.
