Job Summary

The Young Lives Coordinator serves, in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures established by mission leadership, to develop and sustain Young Lives ministries in the respective areas.

Responsibilities
  • Spiritual Development – Follow Jesus through prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health and church relationships. Develop yearly personal growth plans, maintain relationships and disciplines within a church community, actively participate in the Young Life community, lead teams and individuals in spiritual development, and ensure all ministry is grounded in prayer and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Leadership Development – Equip leaders, committee and staff through volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision and vision casting. Meet regularly with mentors, childcare and other volunteer leaders; assist in recruiting and training volunteers to build reflective leadership teams; attend area leadership assignments; model excellence in contact work, clubs, campaigners and camping; train and lead a mentorship team; develop yearly ministry strategies.
  • Resource Development – Fuel the ministry: raise financial support, maintain donor care practices, communicate updates to personal donor partners, and build strategic relationships with community adults such as principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members, and other community organizations. Plan and execute area fundraising events under direction of an area supervisor; partner with area director to build a Young Lives sub‑committee and regularly communicate with the local Young Life committee.
  • Direct Ministry – Proclaim and model through contact work, club, campaigners and camp. Actively engage at all three levels of contact work; lead a team to plan and implement regular outreach meetings; lead campaigner meetings; lead a team to implement summer and school‑season camping strategies; serve on summer assignments at Young Life camps or properties as directed.
  • Ministry Support – Take care of business: accounting, administration, internal communication, data management and strategic planning. Adhere to policies and maintain professionalism; ensure safety policies are followed; manage finances with stewardship; keep accurate records; provide clear, prompt, professional communication; set yearly strategic ministry plans; review regularly; perform other duties as assigned; accept short and long‑term assignment projects.
Training & Education
  • Completion of at least two years as a Staff Associate.
  • Phase1 of core training completed as a Staff Associate.
  • Attend Young Lives trainings, mission wide staff conference every four years, additional training or experiences as deemed necessary (e.g., urban exposure, TDS training), regional training as directed.
  • Pursue continuing educational opportunities including graduate degrees.
  • College degree preferred; completion of training as determined by supervisor.

  • Ability to clearly communicate the Gospel and train others accordingly.
  • Ability to clearly communicate Young Life’s mission and Young Lives vision.
  • Understanding of unique issues faced by pregnant and parenting teen moms.
  • Proven relational skills with adolescents and adults.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, self‑driven.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Must be willing to travel as the job requires.
