Qualifications:

Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with endorsement in English as a Second Language/English for Speakers of Others Languages

Job Goal:
To serve as a liaison between school, home, and community to ensure that each student has an opportunity to achieve high academic standards.

187 Days

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Has knowledge of the Hispanic culture and other cultures and the ability to relate to other English Learner (EL) populations.
  • Has a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal procedures, guidelines, and law for English Learners.
  • Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluates the educational programs and/or student progress.
  • Writes Individual English Learner Plans (I-ELPSs) as stated in the Eufaula City Schools Comprehensive EL District Plan.
  • Plans and implements ongoing professional development as it relates to ELs.
  • Assesses ELs using a state-approved assessment.
  • Works closely with appropriate school staff to meet the needs of each EL and their families, including initiating parent-teacher conferences.
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner, especially when serving as liaison between the EL, the students's home, school, and community agencies in an effort to adequately meet the needs of ELs and their families.
  • Works closely with the Associate Superintendent to implement program objectives, organize and maintain documentation, and to assist in collecting data to complete reports to meet local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Work with building principal to assist with duties related to the job description.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal and/or Associate Superintendent, as long as they are not in conflict with board policy.
  • Evaluation:
    Evaluation is conducted by the Principal as prescribed by Board Policy.
