The ideal candidate will have a passion for Swimming and water safety. This role involves welcoming patrons, assisting with equipment and providing enforcement and education of Community Center rules. Additionally, the lifeguard will ensure water quality and area safety while providing an enjoyable experience for our guests.
- Surveillance:
The main duty of the lifeguard is patron surveillance to ensure safety while being ready to respond to any emergency. - Welcome Patrons:
Greet and welcome patrons, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed about the pool area. - Water Quality Control:
Testing and ensuring water quality before and during your shift. - Educational Guidance:
Assist, learn, and teach patrons about pool rules and water safety protocols. - Janitorial Duties:
Perform daily janitorial tasks as outlined on the shift report, including restrooms, to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. - Physical Requirements:
This job includes standing, sitting, stooping, walking and in-water rescues. - Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position with varying schedules to include mornings and weekends.
- Minimum:
Ability to take control in stressful situations, administer care appropriate to your training, resolve problems, usually associated with customer service positions. - Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alabama or State of Georgia.
- Must be willing to pass Red Cross Lifeguard training as part of the interview process.
- Must complete Red Cross Lifeguard training and certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to educate and engage with patrons of all ages.
- Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Commitment to ensure patron safety.
- Must pass physical and drug screening.
- The work consists of varied duties. The variety of tasks contributes to the complexity of the work.
- The purpose of this position is to assist with maintaining safety in the pool area and to respond to any first aid needs within the Community Center.
- Guidelines include AMIC (Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation) regulations, professional standards, Red Cross guidelines, city and department policies and procedures.
