Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Overview

CV Resources is partnering with a sporting goods distributor client in Eugene in search of a Controller to join their team, ideally on a consulting basis for 6+ months.

The role is to oversee the accounting function and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will manage the month-end close process, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements, provide variance analysis, and support external audits. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

• Manage full month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Prepare financial statements and related disclosures for management and external stakeholders.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights to management.
• Support external audits by preparing schedules, coordinating with auditors, and addressing inquiries.
• Maintain and enforce internal controls and accounting policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting and financial compliance.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of the accounting function.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or senior accounting role.
• Retail/distribution/inventory experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting processes.
• Proven experience with month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements preparation, variance analysis, and audit support.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (ERP experience preferred).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
