Department Summary

The Disability Early Intervention Secondary Transition & Youth (DESTNY) grant management unit houses four established, preexisting research and outreach entities within the University of Oregon, College of

Education:

The Secondary Special Education & Transition (SSET) research unit, the Center for Human Development (CHD), which houses the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), and Oregon Career Information System (OR CIS). DESTNY is devoted to generating new knowledge, assessment, prevention, and intervention. The combined expertise, access to a wealth of human, technological, and material resources, and our unyielding commitment to addressing the most challenging social problems provide us with a unique opportunity to improve the lives and outcomes of children and youth with disabilities and their families.

The general focus of research and outreach in SSET is comprised of developing research-based practices and interventions to ensure youth with disabilities succeed in fulfilling their desired adult roles, including meaningful employment, completion of postsecondary education, and living independently in the community. SSET also provides technical assistance and professional development related to secondary transition within Oregon and across the nation.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive administrative and operational support for research and grant funded projects within Secondary Special Education & Transition (SSET) and the Disability Early Intervention Secondary Transition & Youth (DESTNY) grant management unit.

The Travel and Business Operations Coordinator coordinates travel, events, meetings, and day to day administrative operations; provides business and fiscal processing support; and assists faculty and project staff with research, technical assistance, and data related activities. This position will coordinate multiple priorities, working closely with faculty, staff, and campus partners to ensure effective program operations and compliance with university policies and procedures.

Travel and Business Operations Coordinator uses their skills in program coordination, research support, and grant administration to support and coordinate on mission driven projects that support youth with disabilities.

The Travel and Business Operations Coordinator reports to the DESTNY Business Manager.

Minimum Requirements

Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR

Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Professional Competencies

* Proficiency with common office and data management tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and shared file systems (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).

* Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgment and discretion

* Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with faculty, staff, students, partners, and the public
