About Limited Duration Position- This Limited Duration position could last up to 12 months per business need.
- If you are a current Limited Duration employee, you will not have rights back to your Limited Duration position.
- Employees hired into Limited Duration positions will be members of the AFSCME bargaining unit and covered by the contract except for items outlined below.
- Limited Duration employees are at-will and do not have a probationary period; they accrue no seniority, have no bumping or layoff provisions, and have no discipline or discharge rights.
- Performs routine sorting and distribution of mail; assists with mass mailings as directed.
- Answers telephone calls and takes messages; answers routine questions providing readily available information.
- Accesses computer for readily available information; may perform routine data entry to update records.
- Operates standard office equipment with minimum instructions.
- Accepts receipts and tracks small cash payments; performs basic mathematical calculations.
- Sets up, updates, files, and retrieves records as instructed.
- Types and completes routine forms, form letters, and labels.
- May run established reports as directed.
- Schedules rooms and appointments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, supplemented by either one-year clerical training or basic clerical experience.
- Must pass a background check.
Knowledge
- Basic general office practices and procedures.
- Basic English composition, spelling, and grammar.
- Modern office equipment, including computers.
- Customer service practices.
- Basic business math.
Abilities
- Apply general phone practices and protocols.
- Perform alpha-numeric filing.
- Communicate effectively with other employees using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
- Continue to develop excellent customer skills.
- Operate standard office equipment.
- Perform accurate data entry.
- Follow instructions and independently perform routine tasks once learned.
- Perform basic keyboarding, word processing, and data entry.
- Work with accuracy and attention to detail to met deadlines.
- Perform physical activities that are essential functions of the position, including speech, hearing, manual dexterity to function in an office environment, lifting of supplies and boxes, etc.
