Meteorologist

KVAL/KMTR is looking for a Meteorologist to anchor the weather on‑air and online. You will maintain a digital and social media presence while also providing weather forecasts throughout our newscasts. We also look to our meteorologists for weather reporting, which includes work in the field producing packages, vosots and more.

• Forecasting, producing and presenting clear and concise weather casts that tell a story and connect with viewers.
• Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events.
• Utilize social media as well as write weather stories.
• Make public appearances on behalf of the station.
• Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations.
• Work with digital team to create engaging content for the website, You Tube and social media.
• Produce semi‑regular weather packages.

• In depth knowledge of forecasting.
• Ability to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shots.
• Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks.
• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience.
• Experience as weather anchor/meteorologist at professional news station.
• Understanding of journalistic ethics.
