Position Summary

The Dental assistant is responsible for assisting the dentist, providing direct dental care services for the dental Clinic patients, and working in the sterilization area.

Position Responsibilities
  • Performs routine chair side assisting duties for staff and volunteer dentists as needed including, but not limited to patient prep, history, processing x-rays, tray set ups, placement of topical anesthetic, temporary fillings, rubber dams, suture removal, post extractions, periodontal dressing, taking impressions, coronal polishing and fabricating temporary crowns.
  • Sterilize dental instruments. Learn the correct sterilization of all dental products, follow the expanded COVID 19 processes. Turn over rooms after patient departs, disinfection, and replacement of barriers in dental operatories for next patient. Clean lab areas in compliance with clinic and OSHA standards.
  • Computer dental chart entry and inventory stocking of dental supplies.
  • Maintenance and cleaning as assigned.
  • Working together with other assistants to help them complete their tasks. Always checking the list in the operatories of jobs to do during down time to keep busy.
  • Assist with the orientation of volunteer dentists, assistants, dental students, U of O and LCC students.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Oregon Dental Assistant Certification with expanded functions or equivalent training and experience.
  • Current Radiology Certification OR ability to obtain license and radiology in the next three months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in dental practice is preferred.
  • Bilingual with Spanish speaking abilities.
  • Possess an Expanded Function Certification.
Compensation Details

This is a non-exempt, hourly position DOE. (Depending on Experience).

This position requires successful passage of a State mandated background check.
