Department Summary

The Division of Student Life supports the university’s academic mission and strategic plan through comprehensive programs and services that promote and advance student learning and success while fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community. Student Life includes four major portfolios, the Office of the Dean of Students, Experiential Learning & Engagement, Health & Wellbeing, and Division Administration. Key programs and departments within the division include but are not limited to University Health Services, Erb Memorial Union, Physical Education & Recreation, Parent and Family Programs, Major Student Events (Commencement, Homecoming, University Day), Fraternity and Sorority Life, Counseling, Health Promotion, Multicultural and Identity Based Support Services, Student Government Engagement & Success, Student Conduct and Community Standards, and Support for Students in Crisis and Students of Concern.

The Erb Memorial Union (EMU) is a department of the Division of Student Life. The EMU is a multifaceted auxiliary service that employs over 90 professional staff and 400 student staff and serves over 15 thousand daily users during the academic year. The EMU welcomes students, faculty, staff, the community and visitors to campus, and its mission is to provide learning experiences and opportunities for personal growth in an open, inclusive, and resource-rich community where students and staff collaborate to inspire and sustain extraordinary programs and services that promote diversity and social interaction.

The EMU is student centered and is operated in collaboration with a student board, who are actively involved in determining the character and scope of the department and approve the budget recommendations of all EMU services and programs.

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) focuses on two main areas:
Resource Center and Student Activities Board

  • The CSI Resource Center is a space and provides services for all affiliated UO student organizations. Services include club registration, advising, training, and shared resources in a space which clubs can call home. Our Vision is to be a hub of information and resources where student organizations can create, build, and connect students through fun events, services, and traditions.
  • The Student Activities Board, through two teams, creates events that are desired by the UO student population and provide students with opportunities for social, personal, and intellectual development. Event content will vary from themed parties to intimate discussion groups; they will include long standing traditions and adaptive new creations all to fill the needs of UO Students.
Position Summary

The Student Services Coordinator is a key position within the Center for Student Involvement and is responsible for advising, training, and providing comprehensive support services to student organizations in the areas of organizational development and event management. The Services Coordinator will advise, guide, and supervise student staff in the daily operations of the multifunctional CSI Resource Center space. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with students and stakeholders to ensure that student services are accessible, effective, and aligned with university policies, while fostering a positive and inclusive environment.

This position supports services for all affiliated student organizations as they build a flourishing community and develop professional career skills.

Minimum Requirements
  • Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
  • An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Professional Competencies
  • Excellent writing and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse students, staff, and faculty.
  • Ability to prioritize and function effectively in a student-centered office environment where there can be noise and high activity.
  • Ability to plan and implement student trainings for a diverse audience.
  • Competency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Teams) and the willingness to learn new computer applications as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience advising a student organization in an education setting.
