Department Information

The Humanities Division is seeking to hire faculty to teach American Sign Language courses; various levels of the courses may be assigned depending on candidate experience.

* Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.

* This is an application pool posting for Academic Year 2026. The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College's main campus located in Eugene, Oregon.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Education:

Master's degree in Sign Language Education, Deaf Education, Sign Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Required Experience:

Licensure or Certification Requirements

ACTFL Superior proficiency in ASL.

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education

Possess certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) - Certified Level.

Preferred Experience

* Experience teaching American Sign Language.

* Experience teaching at a community college.

* Experience in teaching and/or developing Hybrid, Hyflex, and/or Online courses.
