Position TypeContracted Part‑Time Faculty (PT Faculty).
Compensation and BenefitsSalary/Wage:
Hourly. Our application is used to determine your initial salary placement for selected candidates. All employment and education history will be considered.
The Part‑time Faculty benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long‑term disability, and paid sick leave. Part‑time faculty may be eligible for full contracted benefits after meeting certain criteria.
Working Schedule- Classes as assigned by the Division Dean based on need, enrollment, and availability of contracted and/or more senior part‑time faculty.
- Possible teaching assignments throughout the year depending upon qualifications and available assignments (varies by term).
- Part‑time instructors and substitutes work, on an as‑needed basis, to provide support to students when the teacher of record is unavailable.
- Master ASE Automotive certification (in all 8 areas), or ability to acquire certification within one (1) year.
- Or Degree in Automotive Technology or related field and three (3) or more years of recent experience as a technician or management level.
- Or Equivalent education and professional experience in Automotive Technology.
Recent experience in a professional Automotive Technology field that would include one (1) or more of the following areas: engine repair, automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drive trains and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, heating, and air conditioning, and engine performance.
Licensure or Certification RequirementsMust meet the NATEF instructor certification standards.
Preferred QualificationsPreferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent.
Preferred Experience:
Experience working with computerized automotive trainers; experience working with hybrid electrical vehicles; community college teaching experience.
- To provide high‑quality instruction to students taking Automotive Technology courses to assist students enter or transition into the workforce.
- Faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for all Lane Community College students. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of the teacher of record and facilitator of learning.
