Position: Coordinator for Orientation & Transition Programs

The essential function of the Coordinator for Orientation & Transition Programs is to support the strategic planning and execution of university-wide orientation and transition initiatives for domestic undergraduate students. In consultation with the Associate Director for Orientation and Transition Programs, the Coordinator provides oversight for selected programmatic areas of Intro

DUCKtion, Week of Welcome, Mid-Year Intro

DUCKtion, Winter Warm-Up, and other project work related to student transitions.

This role collaborates closely with campus partners, academic departments, and Student Orientation Programs professional and student staff to implement programs and services that connect students to the University using intentional student development and enrollment transition theories. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Coordinator will lead key efforts, including online and in-person engagement strategies, assessment practices, digital communication, content development, and event planning.

In addition, the Coordinator plays an integral role in the development of students employed within Student Orientation Programs through supervision and advising of student staff, including staff development and evaluation. This position has a significant impact on the orientation and transition of students at the University because of its influence on the student leaders. This position will collaboratively supervise 30+ student employees, including, but not limited to, graduate interns, student coordinators, student orientation staff, and a residential orientation team.

The Coordinator will also be responsible for supporting the development and/or reorganization of other departmental student teams e.g. the Transfer Team and Week of Welcome staff. The Coordinator will plan, assign, and approve work; address performance concerns; respond to grievances; prepare and complete evaluations; and hire/terminate student employees.
