Position SummaryThe Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success invites applications for its open pro tempore instructional pool. Potential teaching assignments may include courses in established curricular programs such as Academic Residential Community (ARC) and First-Year Interest Group (FIG) seminars to learning and study strategy courses offered through the Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center (TAEC), and undergraduate research and distinguished scholarships preparation and development courses with the Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE) and Office of Distinguished Scholarships (ODS).

The Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) is committed to ensuring that every undergraduate student at the University of Oregon has the support needed to thrive academically and graduate on time. UESS focuses on student success by providing essential resources and services that promote persistence, enhance academic performance, and guide students along a clear path to timely graduation. Serving the entire undergraduate population, UESS collaborates closely with campus partners to create a supportive and engaging environment that empowers students to reach their full potential.
UESS departments and programs include:
Exploring Advising, Transfer Advising, Pathway Oregon, TRIO Student Support Services, Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE), the Accessible Education Center (AEC), Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE), Office of Distinguished Scholarships (ODS), McNair Scholars Program, Academic Residential Communities (ARCs), First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs), Student Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL), Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center (TAEC), and UESS Administration. UESS offers undergraduate courses and curriculum through the UGST (Undergraduate Studies) subject code in support of divisional and institutional student success outcomes and priorities.
UGST courses are offered by most of the UESS departments and programs listed above. UESS also develops curriculum in collaboration with campus partners, including the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence, the College of Art and Sciences, and Division of Global Engagement.
- A Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Two years of experience in teaching or instructional design for an institution of higher education or equivalent experience.
In certain circumstances, a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with substantial related experience may substitute for a master's degree.
Professional Competencies- Ability to support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment.
- Ability to teach credit and non-credit courses, non-credit seminars, professional development programs, in-person or online to a variety of learner populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to exercise sound, independent judgement that aligns with strategic and operational goals.
- Ph.D. in a related field.
- One year prior relevant instructional experience.
