To provide high quality instruction that meets established learning outcomes for students in the Wildland Fire Management Certificate Program courses.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Fire Science, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
- Demonstrated fireline experience on moderate to high severity fires AND significant experience in fuels, fire effects, or ecological fire approaches or 300/400‑level NWCG course training with performance on a management team.
- Must complete a criminal background check. Must work and reside in Oregon at the time the work is performed.
- Master’s degree in a Natural Resource Management discipline or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
- Instruction of NWCG coursework, NWCG Burn Boss, Oregon State Certified Burn Manager, or tribal cultural burn leader.
- Experience managing fuel loads using a broad range of techniques.
- Multilingual skills to support students.
Support Student Learning:
- Compliance with College policies, accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, release time, textbook ordering.
- Maintain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching.
- Participate collegially in faculty performance evaluation.
- Maintain office hours, campus presence, and a safe classroom or lab environment.
- Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and ensure compliance with FERPA.
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Curriculum Delivery:
- Provide high‑quality instruction.
- Create, develop, and revise course content and materials.
- Establish learning outcomes, assess using appropriate tools, and use results to improve courses.
- Incorporate College values and promote respectful learning environment.
- Teach and develop all syllabi and materials directly usable by students.
- Confer with students and deliver curriculum in traditional and online formats.
Online Teaching and Student Support:
- Engage in online course environment ensuring regular and substantive interaction.
- Monitor progress, coach struggling students toward success.
- Grade work and provide timely feedback.
- Respond promptly to student inquiries.
- Ensure materials meet Section 508 guidelines.
Equity and Inclusion:
- Demonstrate social justice by ensuring equity, inclusion, and respect for diversity.
- Carry out duties respectfully and inclusively; support ADA compliance.
- Mentor and model cultural competency.

- Advances in ecological fire management, emphasis on prescribed fire.
