Job Description

Bethel School District is seeking an appropriately licensed candidate for a 0.8 FTE Music Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year at Meadow View School.

Candidates who are licensed or will have the ability to be licensed by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission by the start of the school year are encouraged to apply. Bilingual and/or bicultural candidates are strongly encouraged and will receive preferential consideration.

Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not currently possess a teaching license.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver music instruction aligned with curriculum and student needs.
  • Maintain unconditional positive regard for all students, staff, families, and colleagues.
  • Adjust instruction to meet diverse student abilities and interests.
  • Implement Social‑Emotional Learning and restorative practices in the classroom.
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions and instructional practice.
  • Collaborate with building and district staff and support school community building.
  • Participate in professional learning, including science of reading, socio‑cultural practices, RTI/MTSS, and equity training.
  • Address implicit bias in teaching and maintain a growth‑mindset culture.
  • Prepare lesson plans, adapt materials, and maintain appropriate classroom organization.
Selection Factors
  • Knowledge of basic educational theories and developmental stages of learning.
  • Capacity to schedule workload, manage time, and meet program needs.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with office and audio‑visual equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with legal and ethical standards.
  • Regular, predictable, and prompt attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Oregon teaching license valid by the start of the school year.
  • Ability to implement culturally proficient skills and strategies.
  • Successful completion of fingerprinting, criminal, Oregon Department of Education, and TSPC background checks.
