This postdoctoral position, named in honor of Paul Olum, a former University of Oregon president, is focused on a division of responsibilities between research and teaching. The scholar will pursue ongoing research in mathematics or statistics in consultation with their advisor, and will be expected to deliver a teaching load of four courses per year, ranging from standard subjects such as calculus or linear algebra to more advanced courses, depending on departmental needs and the scholar’s expertise.
Minimum Requirements- PhD in Mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field.
- A record of research excellence and clear potential for continued scholarly impact.
- Instructional experience.
- Discipline‑specific conceptual knowledge.
- Ability to design, conduct, and advance independent or collaborative research projects.
- Ability to communicate research and instructional content clearly in written and oral forms.
- Ability to perform duties reliably, behave ethically, and engage respectfully in academic and professional settings.
- Ability to contribute to or lead projects, mentor others, and manage time and priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of and adherence to ethical standards, compliance requirements, and best practices in responsible research conduct.
- Research interests that align with one or more potential postdoctoral mentors in the department.
