POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

The Team Oregon Build Licensed Support Staff position provides instructional leadership, student supervision, mentoring, and operational support for Team Oregon Build and Ready2

Respond 2026. This statewide, service-based career-connected learning initiative prepares Oregon students for high-demand careers while supporting community resilience and disaster readiness.

The Licensed Support Staff member works collaboratively with students, educators, state agencies, industry professionals, public safety partners, and community organizations to facilitate meaningful hands-on learning experiences. Responsibilities include supporting student engagement, maintaining a safe learning environment, promoting workforce readiness skills, and assisting with event operations and implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise and support participating students during Team Oregon Build and Ready2

    Respond activities.
  • Maintain responsibility for student safety, attendance, conduct, and well-being throughout assigned activities, including overnight programming as assigned.
  • Foster positive student engagement and participation in career-connected learning experiences.
  • Assist students in developing workplace readiness, leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Support instructional activities related to construction, disaster preparedness, workforce development, public safety, logistics, shelter operations, and related career pathways.
  • Collaborate effectively with event staff, educational partners, public safety agencies, industry representatives, and community organizations.
  • Assist with implementation of safety procedures, emergency protocols, and risk management practices.
  • Participate in planning meetings, staff training, orientations, and event briefings.
  • Support student transitions, activity coordination, and logistical operations throughout the event.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, and effective communication.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners as needed.
  • Maintain required documentation and promptly report safety concerns, incidents, or student needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful implementation of Team Oregon Build activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience
  • Valid Oregon teaching, counseling, or other appropriate Oregon educator license required.
  • Experience working with school-aged students required.
  • Experience supervising students in educational, extracurricular, outdoor, career-connected learning, or extended learning environments preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with community partners, industry representatives, or public agencies preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of effective student supervision, behavior support, and safety practices in educational and activity-based environments.
  • Knowledge of career-connected learning, workforce readiness, leadership development, and student engagement strategies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff, families, community partners, and industry representatives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both oral and written forms with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to shared goals and outcomes.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, solve problems, and respond appropriately in dynamic situations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work in indoor and outdoor environments, and support extended-day, overnight, and travel-related program activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position requires frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout indoor and outdoor event sites. The employee must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and navigate uneven terrain. The employee may be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials, supplies, equipment, or personal belongings weighing up to 30 pounds. The position requires the ability to actively supervise students, participate in hands-on activities, and respond appropriately in dynamic educational, training, and operational environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, including training facilities, construction areas, event spaces, and temporary operational sites.
