Most apprenticeship classes are during the week and in the evenings. Classes are assigned by the Division Dean based on need, enrollment, and availability of contracted and/or senior part‑time faculty.

Position PurposeThe Apprenticeship Program Part‑time Faculty position will be responsible for apprenticeship‑related training courses. The primary responsibility of the apprenticeship instructor is to provide quality teaching in a full range of community college apprenticeship courses, including in‑person and/or remote online instruction.
Essential Functions- Provide quality and engaging instruction in all delivery methods and formats within the Apprenticeship Program.
- Participate meaningfully in student retention and completion initiatives.
- Adapt and conform to local industry advisory committee expectations of program proficiencies.
- Plan, write, and administer curricula to adhere to BOLI State‑approved standards and related training requirements, including instruction in varied learning environments such as in‑person, online, remote, and hybrid formats.
- Comply with Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee standards and expectations.
- Stay current with State and Federal code updates and align the curriculum accordingly.
- Set up and prepare class/lab materials prior to the start of class to ensure timeliness and student success in the classroom and lab spaces.
- Support student learning through compliance with college policies and procedures, including timesheet completion, release time, textbook ordering, and related functions.
- Maintain and post office hours in alignment with college expectations.
- Maintain requirements for student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation.
- Problem‑solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity of privacy needs of students.

- Provide high‑quality classroom instruction.
- Create, develop, and revise course content and materials.
- Establish learning outcomes consistent with core ability outcomes, assess outcomes using appropriate assessment tools, and use assessment results to inform improvements at a program and course level.
- Incorporate college values into the curriculum and promote a respectful learning environment.
- Teach and develop all class syllabi and course materials directly for student use.
- Confer with students on course materials.
- Deliver curriculum to students in traditional and online formats.
- Engage within the online course environment to ensure regular and substantive interaction.
- Monitor student progress and provide reasonable coaching and assistance towards success.
- Review and grade all student work and provide timely feedback.
- Provide timely responses to student inquiries.
- Ensure that all materials meet Section 508 guidelines.
- Use effective strategies for teaching online.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the related trade.
- Journeyman certification or equivalent BOLI certification (mandatory).
- Lived in Oregon at the time of employment.
- Successful applicants must complete a criminal background check.
- Compliance with the individual Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee standards.
- Knowledge of BOLI State‑approved apprenticeship standards.
- Associate's Degree within the Construction Industry.
- Demonstrable experience in the manufacturing plant electrical industrial trade.
- Construction or industrial foreman/supervision in an industrial setting.
