The Visiting Instructor in Art will assume teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate program, including teaching nine courses in a 3‑term quarter system (lower‑division and upper‑division Art courses). The position also includes shared service responsibilities such as mentorship of MFA and BFA students and departmental service, commensurate with experience. Visiting faculty are expected to be on campus and participate in a full range of departmental activities.
Visiting faculty must hold a terminal or relevant position at another institution or, pursuant to norms of the specific discipline, have recently obtained a terminal degree and are seeking further professional experience before pursuing a professorship.
Minimum Requirements- MFA degree or equivalent terminal degree
- Evidence of teaching excellence
- Documented record of recent creative work demonstrated through a professional or scholarly portfolio that provides evidence of ongoing creative production such as exhibitions, screenings, publications, or comparable professional outputs
- Strong understanding of the expansive field of Art
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and facilitate student learning
- Ability to conduct independent, high‑quality research and creative practice
- Excellent record of scholarly, creative, or other professional accomplishments in related field
- Previous college teaching and/or practice experience desirable
