Location: Meadow View School, Eugene, Oregon
License: Full license by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC). Restricted license holders are ineligible.
Special Education Hiring IncentiveEligible teachers will receive a total incentive of $4,000, paid as follows:
- $1,000 bonus after 30 days of work
- $750 in December paycheck
- $750 in March paycheck
- $1,500 in June at conclusion of the school year
Salary Range: $50,285 to $101,477 (dependent on experience and education)
Contract Days: 192

Bethel School District seeks a licensed 6‑8 grade Special Education Teacher for the school year at Meadow View School. The instructor will support students in inclusive classrooms, designing and implementing individualized educational plans, and fostering a growth‑mindset culture.
Responsibilities- Firmly believe that all students will learn and improve, creating a growth‑mindset culture in the classroom.
- Maintain unconditional positive regard for all students, staff, families, and colleagues.
- Recognize students’ different needs, abilities, and interests and adjust instruction flexibly.
- Fully support and implement Social‑Emotional Learning, encouraging students to build self‑awareness, self‑management, and relationship skills.
- Possess strong academic training and content knowledge to prepare students to meet academic goals.
- Demonstrate engaging, organized, and effective instructional practices.
- Use data to inform instructional decisions.
- Connect well with students, families, and the school community, learning about those who may be different.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Incorporate feedback and professional learning into teaching practices.
- Maintain collaborative and collegial relationships with building and district staff.
- Participate eagerly in growth opportunities and maintain an interest in improvement.
- Understand and attend to the impacts of implicit bias in teaching and education.
- Possess an Oregon Teaching License valid for assignment by the start of the school year.
- Ability to implement culturally proficient skills and strategies.
- Successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal, Oregon Department of Education, and TSPC background checks.
- Knowledge of educational programs offered in all schools and basic educational techniques.
- Knowledge of basic developmental stages of a child’s learning process.
- Ability to schedule workload, manage time, and meet student needs.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work with small groups and individual students.
- Ability to prepare materials for lesson plans and adapt as needed.
- Ability to interact positively with children and adults and observe individual student abilities.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, administrators, parents, and co‑workers.
- Ability to safely and proficiently operate standard office and audio‑visual equipment.
- Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students and staff.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and prompt attendance.
- Bilingual candidates and those experienced with bilingual families will receive preferential consideration.
- Robust mentoring from a veteran teacher (for staff new to teaching or 1‑2 years out of the education program).
- K‑5 instructional coaching with a Literacy Coach.
- Week‑long New Teacher Academy prior to in‑service week.
- Ongoing coaching and support.
- Opportunities to visit and observe colleagues.
- Professional development in the science of reading, culturally responsive practices, RTI/MTSS, and professional learning communities.
