Position: 2026 - 27 SY 1.0 FTE K-5 Special Education Teacher

Special Education Hiring Incentive

  • $1,000 bonus after 30 days of work
  • $750 in December paycheck
  • $750 in March paycheck
  • $1,500 in June at the conclusion of the school year
Position Summary

1.0 FTE K‑5 Special Education Teacher at Fairfield Elementary School for the  school year. Eligible candidates must be fully and appropriately licensed by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) or obtain a license by the start of the school year.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $50,285 to $101,477 (depending on experience and education)

Contract Days: 192

Selection Factors
  • Knowledge of educational programs offered in all schools and basic educational techniques, as required by the position
  • Knowledge of the basic developmental stages of a child’s learning process
  • Ability to schedule the workload, manage time, and meet the needs of students, the school, or a program
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work with small groups and individual students
  • Ability to prepare materials for lesson plans and adapt as needed to meet student needs
  • Ability to interact positively with children and adults, and observe individual student abilities
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision

  • Ability to safely and proficiently operate standard office and audio‑visual equipment, as required by the position

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess an Oregon Teaching License valid for assignment by the start of the school year
  • Ability to implement culturally proficient skills and strategies
  • Successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal, Oregon Department of Education, and TSPC background checks
