Position: 2026 - 27 SY 0.5 FTE K-5 Special Education Teacher

Bethel School District K‑5 Special Education Teacher

Bethel School District is seeking appropriately licensed candidates for a 0.5‑FTE K‑5 Special Education Teacher at Irving Elementary School for the 2026‑2027 school year.

Special Education Hiring Incentive

Successful candidates will receive Bethel School District’s $4,000 Special Education Hiring Incentive! Educators must be fully and appropriately licensed by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) to be eligible. Restricted license holders will not be eligible. The hiring incentive applies to new hires and will be prorated based on hire date.

  • $1,000 bonus after 30 days of work
  • $750 in December paycheck
  • $750 in March paycheck
  • $1,500 in June at the conclusion of the school year

Selection Factors
  • Knowledge of educational programs offered in all schools and of basic educational techniques, as required by the position
  • Knowledge of the basic developmental stages of a child's learning process
  • Ability to schedule workload, manage time and meet the needs of students, the school, or a program
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Work with small groups and individual students
  • Prepare materials for lesson plans and adapt as needed to meet student needs
  • Interact positively with children and adults and observe individual student abilities
  • Work with a minimum of supervision
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, administrators, parents and co‑workers
  • Operate standard office and audio‑visual equipment safely and proficiently, as required by the position
  • Maintain appropriate and legal level of confidentiality regarding students, staff, and other individuals
  • Maintain regular, predictable and prompt attendance
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess an Oregon Teaching License valid for assignment by start of the school year
  • Ability to implement Culturally Proficient skills and strategies
  • Successfully pass fingerprinting, criminal, Oregon Department of Education, and TSPC background checks
