Instructor Pool – Cell Biology and/or Anatomy & Physiology
LCC's Science Department is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty with a passion for teaching and content expertise in Cell Biology and/or Anatomy & Physiology. The initial focus of teaching responsibilities will be in BI 112, Cell Biology for Health Occupations, which is the prerequisite to the 3-course Human Anatomy and Physiology series (BI 231, 232, and 233). This is an application pool posting for , starting Fall 2025.
The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College main campus located in Eugene, Oregon. Classes may include 100-level Cell Biology and 200-level Anatomy & Physiology, depending on department needs.
Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach, and use teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.

To provide high-quality instruction that meets established learning aims and outcomes for students in 100-level Cell Biology and/or 200-level Anatomy & Physiology courses. Faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for all Lane Community College students. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of the teacher of record and facilitator of learning.
Work safely in classroom and laboratory settings; may be exposed to hazardous conditions. This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform computer work in the form of word processing, data entry, spreadsheet work, and web-based research for more than six (6) hours a day.
Work involves concentrated mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Knowledge of teaching Cell Biology and/or Anatomy & Physiology to general lower-division college populations Knowledge generally and specifically with common student learning difficulties, current advances in teaching methods, and appropriate uses of technology in teaching Ability to manage a classroom and teach using a learning management system (e.g., Moodle) and online resources; effective classroom presentation and speaking skills Ability to design and use classroom assessment techniques and assessments of student learning to improve the learning environment, challenge and engage students, and allow them to advance their knowledge and skills in a variety of ways Ability to coordinate curricula and laboratory activities with other part-time and full-time faculty Ability to follow and collectively improve established curricula aimed and teach to course learning aims and objectives Ability to collaborate with peers and support staff in departmental, campus or community projects Knowledge of and ability to advance one's knowledge of effective pedagogies Ability to adhere to college and contractual obligations Ability to understand and carry out Lane Community College's commitment to student success, lifelong learning, and the needs of students, staff, and the public Ability to understand and carry out Lane Community College's mission and strategic agendas including College Learning Outcomes, cultural competency, and diversity Expected Competencies Analytical Thinking Building Relationships Change Advocate Teamwork Service Mindset Process Improvement Innovation Supervision and Leadership Strategic Project Management Knowledge of instructional design and delivery
