Position Information

Job Title: Instructor Pool – Education
Parts of the Posting: Study for the academic year 2025‑2026, part‑time faculty, contract basis. Assigned location:
Lane Community College main campus, Eugene, Oregon.
Classification: Part‑time Faculty
Start Date: Upon hire, based on department need.

Salary/Wage: Hourly. Initial salary placement will be determined by application and experience. Part‑time faculty schedule:
Step 1–Step 10. Part‑time faculty may be eligible for full contractual benefits after meeting certain criteria.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of experience with K‑12 ethnically, linguistically or culturally diverse student populations in a classroom context.
  • Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time their work is performed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Training, curriculum development, or experience in literacy acquisition and/or the Science of Reading.
  • Teaching experience with community college student populations.
  • Experience teaching online.
  • Experience with learning management systems.
Position Purpose

To provide high‑quality instruction that meets established learning aims and outcomes for students in Education courses. Faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of delivering a quality learning experience for all Lane Community College students.

Essential Functions
  • Exhibit compliance with college policies and procedures, including timesheet completion and textbook ordering.
  • Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching.
  • Participate collegially in the faculty performance evaluation process.
  • Maintain and post office hours in alignment with college expectations.
  • Maintain a physical campus presence for instruction and daily needs of students, departments, college, and community, as specified in college operations policies.
  • Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and documentation; ensure a safe, quality classroom or lab environment.
  • Problem‑solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards and maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Curriculum Delivery
  • Provide high‑quality classroom instruction.
  • Create, develop, and revise course content and materials.
  • Establish learning outcomes, assess outcomes using appropriate tools, and use assessment results to inform improvements.
  • Incorporate college values into the curriculum and promote a respectful learning environment.
  • Teach and develop all class syllabi and course materials in a form that can be directly delivered to students.
  • Confer with students on course materials.
  • Deliver curriculum in traditional and online formats.
Online Teaching and Student Support
  • Engage in the online course environment to ensure regular and substantive interaction.
  • Monitor student progress and provide coaching to struggling students.
  • Review and grade all student work and provide timely feedback.
  • Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all materials meet Section 508 guidelines.
  • Use effective strategies for teaching online.
