- Education:
Master’s degree in physical education, kinesiology, exercise physiology, exercise and movement science, or closely related field (OR equivalent combination of education and experience) - Experience:
Teaching adults in fitness, physical education, or a closely related discipline - Certification:
Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification - Conditions of Employment:
Criminal background check required (infractions evaluated case‑by‑case); must work and reside in Oregon at the time of employment
- Education:
GFI credentials from accredited bodies such as ACE, NASM, AFAA; specialized training in group fitness (cardio kickboxing, zumba/dance cardio, yogilates, barre & body sculpt) - Experience:
Teaching in a community college setting; teaching adults in a group fitness setting
Faculty are professional educators responsible for providing a quality learning experience for all Lane Community College students. The role delivers high‑quality instruction to students enrolled in college‑level physical education coursework.
Essential FunctionsSupport student learning through activities that include:
- Compliance with College policies and procedures; accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, release time, textbook ordering and related functions
- Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching
- Collegial participation in faculty performance evaluation process
- Maintain and post office hours in alignment with College expectations
- Maintain physical campus presence for instruction and daily needs
- Maintain student records, attendance, grades; ensure safe, quality classroom or lab
- Problem solve and manage sensitive information with FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality
- Provide high‑quality classroom instruction
- Create, develop and revise course content and materials
- Establish learning outcomes; assess outcomes and use results for improvement
- Incorporate college values; promote respectful learning environment and multicultural awareness
- Teach and develop all class syllabi and course materials, in a form that can be directly delivered to students
- Confer with students on course materials
- Deliver curriculum in traditional and online formats
- Engage within the online course environment to ensure regular and substantial interaction
- Monitor student progress and provide coaching to struggling students
- Review and grade student work; provide timely feedback
- Respond promptly to student inquiries
- Ensure materials meet Section 508 guidelines
