Position: Bilingual (Mandarin) Kindergarten EA - Hé Lín Chinese Immersion Elementary

Position Summary

This position is for the 2026/2027 school year. This is a part-time, 0.5625 FTE/ 4.5 hours per day position working on the CL-192 (192 days per full school year) schedule, Monday to Friday. Minimum requirements for the position require you to meet Highly Qualified status, defined by state of Oregon ORS . You are required to attach documentation to your application to show you meet the Highly Qualified requirement, a resume will not be sufficient.

Official or unofficial transcripts with your name, showing 2 years of post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours or 48 semester credits. OR Obtaining an associates or higher degree (attach diploma) OR Meeting a rigorous standard of testing through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics (attach test scores).

Bilingual in Mandarin is required, and you must successfully pass a bilingual fluency assessment. Experience working with kindergarten-age children is preferred.

Essential functions:

  • Confer with teacher and assist in preparation of lessons appropriate to level of instruction; review coverage and comprehension of subject matter and administer tests.
  • Tutor on a one-to-one basis as necessary; assign extra work for quick learners and assist in remediation and completion of assignments by slow-learning students.
  • Monitor and supervise students engaged in activities initiated by the teacher. Record student and behavior.
  • Translate standardized District 4J instructional materials from English to French, Spanish or another language.
  • Compose and format homework assignments, charts, posters, memos, newsletters and other items as requested by the teacher.
  • Prepare, disseminate, collect, process and store or redistribute instructional materials used in class.
  • Prepare classroom materials using current office technology and equipment (e.g., computer systems, fax, copiers, etc.) and production equipment (e.g., thermofax, punching and binding machine, laminator).
  • Collect, sort and correct lessons and tests; record grades in ledger; redistribute as necessary; file classroom materials.
  • Receive and respond to parental inquiries regarding student, program, school, teacher or classroom activities.
  • Supervise lunchroom, classroom, hallways, and recess yards so that an orderly atmosphere is preserved; control aggressive behavior, settle disputes and otherwise manage student behavior and activity.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies for teachers and staff; complete purchase orders for additional materials and stock shelves with new supplies.
  • Administer first aid to minor bumps, scrapes and bruises of students when minor accidents occur.
  • Maintains regular and prompt attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to use or learn to use computers and word processing software.
  • Ability to communicate beyond the level of instruction using a foreign language both orally and in writing.
  • Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community populations.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    To demonstrate Highly Qualified status as required by ORS , you will be required to attach documentation to your application to show:

    • Completion of at least two years of post-secondary study consisting of 72 credit hours, 48 semester units (attach transcripts); OR
    • Obtaining an associates or higher degree (attach diploma); OR
    • Meeting a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrating, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics (attach test scores).
