Interim Director of Academic and Tutoring Services
Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon is seeking an Interim Director of Academic and Tutoring Services (ATS) to oversee visioning, oversight, and management of tutoring, academic coaching, instructional testing, and other student support programs. The position reports to the Associate Vice President in Academic Affairs and is a 1.0‑FTE role for up to one year.

Management - Salary: $97,717 – $114,315 annually (Management Salary Grade 21)
- Full‑time, variable work hours; weekends, evenings, and travel may be required; generally Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm

- Oversee daily operations of on‑campus and virtual ATS and Instructional Testing Services (ITS)
- Provide strategic direction and support for the college’s academic mission through tutoring, academic coaching, and testing services
- Recruit, select, evaluate, and develop staff across 55–90 contracted, part‑time, and student employees in 10 learning spaces
- Lead professional development and stay current on higher‑education trends
- Participate in college‑wide administration, including mission review, budgeting, and policy development
- Organize and facilitate stakeholder meetings to align tutoring and testing services with student needs
- Collaborate on the maintenance and evolution of administrative software such as Banner and EAB
- Ensure compliance with college policies and external accreditation (CRLA or equivalent)
- Solicit and use stakeholder feedback to develop program improvement plans
- Compile and present annual reports on tutoring and academic support programming, including quantitative and qualitative data on student learning and staff development
- Oversee branding, promotion, and coordination of public relations for tutoring and testing services
- Ensure implementation of college’s affirmative action and equal employment opportunity policies, including diversity, inclusion, and climate initiatives
- Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to privacy requirements (FERPA)
- Assist with ADA compliance and provide access for students and staff with disabilities
- Promote and support multicultural and equity‑focused curricula and initiatives
- Support faculty and staff in understanding and achieving institutional commitments to student success and lifelong learning
- Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to build relationships, collaborate, and lead teams
- Experience in process improvement, strategic project management, and academic program development
- Sound knowledge of instructional design, learning theory, and tutoring best practices
- Effective written and verbal communication and the capacity to present complex information clearly
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
- Supervisory experience in a unionized environment and experience with staff development and performance evaluation
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (Education, Psychology, Adult Learning Theory, Assessment, or similar) from an accredited institution
- Minimum of three years as a coordinator or comparable level in an academic setting
