Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Plan, write, and administer Fabrication and Welding curricula for in‑person, online, remote, and hybrid formats.
  • Create course content, develop and revise syllabi and materials.
  • Establish learning outcomes, assess effectiveness, and use data for continuous improvement.
  • Deliver high‑quality instruction and maintain a safe, well‑equipped classroom or lab.
  • Provide course support: office hours, grading, timely feedback, and student coaching.
  • Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation in compliance with FERPA.
  • Practice proper operation, maintenance, and manual skills of a variety of welding equipment (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, PAC, OAC).
  • Participate in faculty performance evaluation, collegial activities, and university meetings.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all teaching practices.
Online Teaching & Student Support
  • Engage students in the online environment and ensure regular, substantive interaction.
  • Monitor progress, provide coaching, and assist struggling students.
  • Review and grade all assignments and deliver timely, substantive feedback.
  • Ensure materials meet Section 508 accessibility guidelines.

Required Experience & Credentials
  • One year of industrial experience in fabrication and welding, or
  • One year of formal training and experience in operation, maintenance, and manual skills associated with wire drive welding.
  • Industrial experience/teaching experience in fabrication/Welding preferred.
  • Proficiency with welding processes: FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, OAC.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain required licensure or certification (e.g., AWS Certified Welder, Certified Welding Inspector).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fabrication/Welding.
  • Industry credentials such as AWS Certified Welder, CWI, NCCER, SENSE, API, or ASME.
  • Prior teaching or industrial training experience.
  • Experience with distance education/web teaching modalities.
  • Proficiency with distance learning technologies and remote classroom management.
