Overview
Joining the Eugene Police Department gives the opportunity to be part of a progressive, professional law enforcement agency that serves a city of more than 178,000 residents. A typical day involves responding to about 282 calls for service, including emergency 9-1-1 calls. Police staff also engage in proactive community education and crime‑prevention activities to help protect all residents.

- Enforce city laws, prevent crimes, and safeguard the constitutional rights of all people.
- Engage in proactive community education and crime‑prevention activities.
- Participate in varied work including patrol, promotional assignments, and special team opportunities.
- Minimum of three continuous years of full‑time police experience at a city, county or state agency.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- State‑recognized police certification. If not recognized, must attend a two‑week Career Officer Development Academy.
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). Must pass a driving records check.
- Pass police background investigation, drug test, hearing and visual acuity tests, and a physical assessment.

Schedule & Work LocationWork various shifts, nights, weekends and holidays. Patrol teams currently follow a 4/10 schedule. Emergency response requires readiness within 45 minutes.

Eugene Police Department, 300 Country Club Rd., Eugene, OR. Applicants must reside within 45 minutes of Eugene.
- Hourly salary steps 1–6 range from $37.59 to $47.92 for entry level positions; lateral steps are determined by experience as a guide.
- Relocation reimbursement up to $7,500 for moves over 50 miles.
- Additional 15% premium after three years of employment and a 5% language proficiency bonus for proven fluency in a designated language.
