About The Position

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is looking for DPSST Patrol Certified law enforcement officers who are interested in an exciting opportunity to join our team. This position is open to currently certified applicants who will have at least two years of law enforcement patrol experience at the time of hire.

Schedule and Working Hours

Must be available to work all days and shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required. This is an LCPOA union represented position.

Compensation and Incentives
  • Pay commensurate with experience.
  • 80-hour vacation/leave (PTO) bank at hire, with an additional 80-hour PTO bank at one year.
  • Take home vehicle.
  • DPSST certification pay 3% intermediate, 3% advanced, if qualified.
  • Bilingual pay available if qualified after assessment.
  • Abbreviated Academy for out of state applicants.
  • Longevity incentive 2.5% at ten years, additional 2.5% every fifth year afterwards.
  • Other assignment-specific incentives available.
Qualifications
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Two years of experience dealing with the public.

An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Licensing Requirements
  • Possession of a current Oregon driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Possession of a basic certification in corrections and as a peace officer with the State of Oregon at the time of appointment or the ability to successfully apply for such certification.
Employment Conditions
  • Pre-Employment Background Check.
  • Interview:
    All eligible candidates will be contacted by phone to schedule a date and time for an interview; the interview must be passed to continue in the hiring process.
  • Background Investigation: A thorough background investigation will be conducted, including a psychological examination and a medical examination with a drug screen and TB test.
Minimum Standards and Disqualifying Factors

Any applicant who is disqualified during our background process will not be considered for any position within the Lane County Sheriff's Office for a period of two years from the disqualification date. Rejection for employment with our department does not preclude an applicant from applying for another position of employment with Lane County.
