Job Summary:

The Associate Dean & Academic Strategy and Healthcare Partnerships Officer provides strategic and administrative leadership for the College of Health Professions’ academic portfolio and associated external engagement in alignment with Bushnell’s call to wisdom, faith, and service. First, this role develops new and stewards existing programs (e.g., start, grow, stop decisions). Second, expands clinical training capacity both on‑site and off. Third, develop healthcare partnerships conducive to program growth and in meaningful service to the community.

Finally, for the College of Health Professions, and in alignment with the priorities of the Division of Academic Affairs, leads grant acquisition and philanthropic coordination as a partner to Advancement. Reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and serves as a member of the VPAA’s Cabinet.

Position

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead portfolio strategy (market analysis, program ROI, pathway maps) to start, grow, scale, pause, or sunset degrees and credentials.
  • Chair and develop the leadership team for College of Health Professions, which is comprised of program directors and assistant deans, direct reports to this position.
  • In collaboration with direct reports, recruit, onboard, develop, and retain faculty essential for all programs in the College of Health Professions in support of identified program‑level leadership.
  • Chair or cochair program development working groups; guide concept papers, business cases, and faculty governance routing.
  • Ensure alignment with licensure/credentialing requirements and workforce needs; integrate flexible and hybrid modalities.
Partnerships, Clinical Placements, and Clinical Services
  • As appropriate, launch clinical services aligned with and supporting existing and proposed programs (e.g., nursing, counseling, allied health); establish supervision frameworks and risk management for the same. Co‑design community‑facing services (i.e., akin to our existing community‑facing counseling clinic; other options could include screening clinics, simulation collaborations, telehealth practicums) tied to curricular outcomes.
  • Advance interprofessional practice opportunities and service‑learning models.
  • Build and manage strategic affiliations with health systems, clinics, community agencies, and payers to expand clinical placements and preceptorships.
  • Negotiate MOUs/affiliation agreements, site capacity planning, and quality standards; oversee site onboarding and evaluation.
Grants & Philanthropy
  • Generate prospects, pursue leads, develop proposals, and manage post‑award requirements for public/private grants; coordinate with the Divisions of Academic Affairs, Advancement, and Finance in doing so.
  • Partner with Advancement to cultivate donors, co‑create cases for support, and steward gifts aligned to strategic priorities (e.g., scholarships, labs, simulation, endowed positions).
Assessment, Accreditation & Compliance
  • Oversee program assessment, continuous improvement cycles, and accreditation readiness (college level and program level).
  • Maintain compliance with clinical affiliation requirements across College of Health Professions programs.
