The Licensed Massage Therapist is a licensed professional trained to do Massage Therapy treatments and procedures with the exception of evaluations. The Licensed Massage Therapist duties are performed in accordance with the accepted professional standards of practice, regulations, and agency policy, and under the supervision of the DPS or Administrator.
Duties- Perform massage related therapeutic activities, treatments and procedures under the direction of an authorized provider.
- Adhere to the patient's plan of care and designated goals.
- Provide accurate and timely documentation of patient services to reflect the plan of care.
- Participate in coordination with the physician and other disciplines; LMTs may place and accept verbal/telephone physician orders related to their specific discipline under the supervision of the DPS or Clinical Manager and in accordance with the Physician Oral and Telephone Orders policy.
- Participate in in‑service programs.
- Assess and document the patient response to therapy treatments.
- Participate in educating the patient and family/caregivers as it relates to massage therapy.
- Complete mandatory education requirements annually to maintain competence.
- Attend required staff meetings and IDG.
- Participate in personal, professional growth and development.
- Participate in organization’s quality assessment and performance improvement teams and activities.
- Be prepared to visit patients in homes that are not clean, or in poor repair, have poor ventilation, are infested with insects or rodents, and secondhand smoke.
- May be requested to perform additional job‑related tasks beyond those stated in this description.
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Current massage therapy license in accordance with regulations in the practice state(s).
- Willing and able to travel between multiple patients.
- Previous healthcare experience required; home care or hospice experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic experience documenting electronic visit notes is preferred.
- Ability to function as a team member and appropriately seek supervision as needed.
- Demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize and interact with all levels of staff in a courteous and professional manner.
