Position SummaryThe Senior Staff Therapist/Psychologist:
Latine Student Specialist provides psychological intervention, prevention, and postvention programs and services to the university community, primarily to University of Oregon students. The role addresses serious mental health issues and developmental and preventative concerns, including drop‑in and single‑session interventions, initial assessments, short‑term individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and case disposition. The position also supervises and trains graduate trainees and employees, performs administrative tasks, and develops, implements, and evaluates educational and preventive outreach.
Special focus is given to services for Latine students, undocumented students of various nationalities, students from mixed‑status families, and students in the DACA program.
- Deliver interventions, assessments, and therapy services.
- Supervise and train graduate trainees and employees.
- Conduct administrative tasks and maintain records.
- Develop and evaluate educational and preventive outreach programs.
- Consult faculty, staff, students, parents, families, and other health‑care providers.
- Participate in department and university meetings and committees.
- Provide specialized services to Latine, undocumented, and other underserved student groups.
- Therapist: Master's degree in counseling, couples and family therapy, or social work; 18 months of clinical experience, including at least 9 months with Latine or undocumented clients.
- Psychologist: Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA‑accredited program; successful completion of an APA‑ or CPA‑accredited doctoral internship; 18 months of clinical experience, including at least 9 months with Latine or undocumented clients; licensable in Oregon (or a residency contract if unlicensed).
- Multicultural competence and commitment to organizational development.
- Effective communication skills.
- Understanding of the role of a counseling center on a university campus.
- Nine months of experience in a university counseling center.
- Experience in educational or preventive outreach for Latine or undocumented students.
- Multilingual, fluent in Spanish.
- Ability to serve undocumented students of various nationalities and students in the DACA program.
- FLSA exempt.
