About Your Role
The Behavioral Health Skills Trainer provides strengths-based, trauma-informed support to youth and families involved in foster care, adoption, or guardianship. Working with youth between the ages 3–18, the Skills Trainer helps children and adolescents develop social, emotional, behavioral, and independent living skills that promote stability, resilience, and success in home, school, and community settings. The Skills Trainer maintains a small caseload to ensure individualized support and works collaboratively with caregivers, treatment providers, schools, and community partners to coordinate services and promote positive outcomes for youth and families.
Skills training is provided during times identified as most relevant to the youth and family (including occasional nights, early mornings, and weekends).
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience – additional education may substitute for years of experience
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and auto insurance
- CPR/First Aid (provided by an agency)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) (provided by an agency)
- Tier 1 Collaborative Problem Solving (provided by an agency)
- Satisfactory results of fingerprinting and background checks
