TO QUALIFY
  • Employees must be at least 18 years of age per Oregon State Administrative Rules
  • Prefer personal or professional experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities OR experience in front-facing customer service role and a true passion for helping vulnerable populations.
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required for the Community Living Support Program.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, attire and personal presentation when interacting with persons served and their families.

What You Get to Do

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Supported/Community Living Program will work 1:1 with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in home and in the community with a focus on achieving goals and building independence. The DSP will help individuals stay active and engaged by providing transportation to fun community events, hobbies, appointments, shopping trips, and other outings / errands. They also assist with a variety of household duties including cleaning, laundry, meal prep, budgeting and establishing routines.

Enrich and support the lives of the persons served while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

  • Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including community-based supports.
  • Help the individual set and achieve goals; assist in overcoming personal barriers
  • Communicate with clients and their families to understand their interests, skills, abilities, goals, and support needs.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
  • Duties may periodically include personal care assistance and support with prescribed medications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training
