The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the intellectual hub of the University of Oregon, serving nearly two-thirds of all students. Students have access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources, including high-performance computing clusters and extensive datasets, enabling them to explore and analyze real-world problems across diverse domains.

Through collaboration with industry and academic partners, the Data Science Department fosters a vibrant and dynamic learning environment, preparing students for a successful career in data science.

The Department of Data Science at the University of Oregon seeks to establish a pool of qualified candidates interested in Pro Tem Instructor positions. Depending on departmental needs and candidate qualifications, Pro Tem Instructors may teach lower or upper division undergraduate Data Science courses, including introductory sequences, such as Foundations of Data Science. Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years, based on programmatic need, funding, and performance.

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or other relevant field.
• One (1) year post-secondary instructional experience.

• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to contribute to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

• A PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, other relevant field, or an advanced degree with significant professional experience in field related to Data Science.
• Experience teaching courses in data science at the undergraduate or graduate level in a university setting.
