Job Summary

Full-time hourly, benefit eligible. This position maintains campus buildings, equipment, and grounds by resolving submitted work orders and special requests for repairs and preventative maintenance.

Position

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Focus on safety for self and others in all areas of operations.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely fashion with a customer service posture.
  • Handle and operate power and hand tools safely.
  • Utilize ladders safely (6-foot to 30-foot) within equipment safe working limits.
  • Use campus equipment within safe working limits.
  • Keeps records of building and grounds maintenance and repairs with maintenance software.
  • Work individually and as a team member; willing to assist others collaboratively.
  • Work with internal customers and external vendors in a positive and productive manner.
  • Willing to learn and expand skills through online and hands-on training.
  • Reliably show up to work on time and be able to work independently without constant supervision.

  • High personal motivation with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Professional, positive attitude when assisting people.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling as required.

Experience & Qualification Requirements
  • Basic experience in building maintenance (dry wall, plaster, painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
  • Organized with inventory, work, and equipment records.
  • Thorough, able to see jobs through to completion, including cleaning the job site as needed.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Computer experience: basic knowledge of Word, Outlook, and Excel; willingness to learn new programs.
  • Able to provide input to resolve issues cost-effectively and efficiently.
  • Basic supervisory skills with a positive demeanor.
  • Conscientious with attention to detail.
  • High School diploma.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license or ability to obtain one; suitable motor vehicle record for university insurance policy.
  • Preference for ability to drive a manual transmission and to tow a utility trailer.
  • May be required to obtain certification to operate an aerial work platform.
